Daily Harvest: Ossiana’s Review

When it comes to cooking, I usually have a DIY approach. I love to read old cookbooks, I’ve used almost every meal kit on the market, and I also have no problem getting veggies from the grocery store to dice up a good stir-fry. Unfortunately, my workload has gotten to the point where I just can’t handle it anymore.

As much as I love spending an hour or two a day cooking, it’s not in the cards for me anymore. I needed to find a way to get readily-prepped meals that were great for me and my spouse. And they needed to be simple “heat and eat” types of meals.

For a while, I had been eyeing Daily Harvest. I forget why I was sitting on the decision to buy them, but eventually, I bit. So, here’s what I have to say about it all.

Ordering

With Daily Harvest, you have to order a minimum of 9 items per week to save. The more you order, the more money you save. This makes it great if you’re a bulk buyer (which I quickly became), but if you’re just trying it out, it can be a little scary.

Trust me when I say you won’t regret it. Once you sign up, orders are automatically scheduled and released by Sunday. You can choose to get your goods one of two days. In my area, it’s Tuesdays or Thursdays.

Menu

The menu has smoothies, soups, harvest bowls, oat bowls, chia bowls, as well as cool coffee drinks. Here’s what you need to know about the menu:

  • You can pick up to 26 items. While you have a minimum of nine, 26 is the maximum. It’s a shipping thing.
  • Each item has its own directions, ingredients, and description if you click on the product. They categorize their items by their purpose, such as “Energy Boosting” or “Beautifying,” just in case you’re overdue for a glow-up.
  • Each item takes under 5 minutes to make. It’s perfect for busy people. Just saying.
  • Smoothies require a blender, as do many soups. I bought one specifically for this service. Most people have them lying around.
  • Everything is vegan, low-calorie, and super healthy. As a carnivore, I always still eat some meat as a side dish. Others add egg or bacon bits as a topping to their harvest bowls or flatbreads.
  • You need to freeze all the goods you get. Refrigeration is not recommended.

So, How Does It All Taste?

All the menu details are great, but what good is it if you don’t end up liking what you ordered? I totally get it. Well, I’ll put it to you this way: it’s been a game-changer for me. I am one of those people who loves meat, and who usually needs lots of servings to be happy.

Daily Harvest is vegan, and it still satisfies me. Most of the flavors have a slightly earthy or tangy taste, which I happen to enjoy. If you’re going for a fruit-based bowl or a smoothie, then the tanginess is hit with a punch of sweet without it being too sweet.

So far, I can honestly say I have been thrilled with everything I tasted. It’s a legitimately gourmet vibe, with a nice splash of Millennial-friendly branding. I love it.

Is It Worth It?

I made a huge mistake in waiting so long to make Daily Harvest a part of my life. Had I just gone with this company earlier, I’d be a lot healthier, a lot thinner, and a lot richer. I absolutely love it, and so will you.
