Mark’s Food Market is a convenience store located on Hyde Park Boulevard in Niagara Falls, NY. Here, you can find many basic necessities such as groceries, beer, candy, lottery, and even a cold sub counter!
The atmosphere at Mark’s Food Market
Mark’s is not a “sit down” location for a meal. However, it does offer a typical convenience store vibe. The staff during the day are most kind and welcoming. There was a female worker on the weekends that was quite rude and insensitive to disabled people as well as people on assistance. This, of course, created a displeasing and unsettling vibe but she may not work there at this time. The usual staff keep the store well-stocked and clean. A couple of summers ago the sales floor was a little crowded due to an excessive accidental order of the “Rita” drinks. They truly did not have any other place to put the many cases, so they stacked them safely and neatly on the sales floor. They then sold the cases at a discount to help move the accidental shipment faster. I thought this was a very responsible way of dealing with the issue.
The atmosphere of the sub counter is clean and orderly. It is easy to see the ingredients available and whether or not they are fresh. I always saw fresh ingredients and felt the pride the staff had in their station.
The location of Mark’s Food Market
Mark’s is located at 3301 Hyde Park Boulevard Niagara Falls, NY 14305. They have a parking lot that is convenient but BEWARE! Some of the drivers in the area will drive through Mark’s parking lot to avoid the stop sign at the corner. I have witnessed many close encounter accidents involving drivers and pedestrians.
In addition to the dangerous parking lot, Mark’s had been the location of violent encounters including disputes and robberies. This area of Hyde Park Boulevard isn’t the greatest and some may even refer to it as “ghetto “.
Mark’s is one of the only establishments in the area to offer food. Nearby, you can find my father in-law’s motorcycle repair shop (Rae’s Hyde Park Cycles), a car mechanic shop (Monster’s New and Used Tires) and a neighborhood of residential homes.
The food at Mark’s Food Market
As previously mentioned, Mark’s offers made to order cold subs. Here you can find an assortment of options for cold subs including my personal favorite, turkey, and cheese. The subs seem to consist of fresh ingredients daily. They offer a meal deal which includes an 8″ sub, small bag of chips and a drink for $6.50 (in 2016). Perhaps the most notable part of their sub meals is that they don’t skimp on the meat!
The prices at Mark’s Food Market
Their store prices (as of 2016) are comparable to other convenience stores. The sub meal deal for $6.50 (as of 2016) is very appealing especially for what you get!
My final recommendation for Mark’s Food Market
If you are in the area (during the day) and you are in need of a basic necessity item or a decent sub lunch then I would highly recommend stopping at Mark’s. However, I would avoid it if you need a lot of groceries or if it is after dark.

- Very tasty subs and clean sub counter
- Mostly kind and welcoming staff
Cons
- Some of the staff are rude and insensitive
- This part of Hyde Park Boulevard is considered “ghetto” and unsafe, especially for pedestrians at night
