The Club House is a little diner set on Niagara Falls Boulevard, a very busy street in my area. The Club House, however, was not our intended outing. My mom had suggested a different diner for breakfast but it was closed and we then had to choose the next closest diner, The Club House. We had never tried it before but had driven past it plenty of times. This would end up being a plan B worth choosing!
The Atmosphere at The Club House
After walking into the diner through two awkward doorways, we entered the main dining area. Like any good diner, we were welcomed by a friendly wait staff at the breakfast bar. We were told to sit anywhere we like and we proceeded to do so.
Our table was quickly brought menus and the waitress took our drink orders. She also offered my son a booster seat or high chair. We chose to decline both. While we gazed at the menu options we noticed the decor around us seemed like a mixed theme. Classic diner combined with baseball memorabilia and autumn decor.
Seating options consisted of breakfast bar stools, tables with chairs, and booth seating. In typical diner form, the booth seating lined the outer perimeter of the restaurant while the tables and chairs made up the inner spaces. Each table was quickly cleaned and rearranged to prepare for the next guest each time a customer paid and left. This was particularly nice to see as the restaurant was only being worked by two women and they certainly held their own.
While we were strangers to the diner, many of the others there seemed to be regulars based on the interactions with the staff. Everyone was kind and friendly which isn’t always the case in the city.
In addition to all of this on the inside, the outside of the restaurant is rather plain and easy to drive by without a second glance. The Club House seems to offer an outdoor seating area when the weather is warmer.
The Food at The Club House
The main reason most people go to restaurants is for the food! My mom, myself, and my son ordered our favorite breakfasts and we were overall not disappointed!
My mom ordered Eggs Benedict with home fries. She stated to me that her eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise sauce was creamy and flavorful with perfectly crisp English muffins. The ham that was used seemed to resemble a ham lunch meat which may seem odd, but she enjoyed how easy it was to eat! Unfortunately, she found the home fries to be dry.
I ordered a single pancake and bacon strips for my son. He seems to go through “picky eating” phases so I didn’t want to order very much for him. The waitress brought his food and announced that she attempted to make the pancake-shaped like Mickey Mouse, but it came out looking more like a heart. We loved it and my son gobbled it up!
Finally, I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy which came with a side of home fries and 2 eggs. I asked for my eggs to be scrambled. I certainly did not finish my meal, which was my intention. I love having leftovers at home! I thought the biscuits tasted homemade, and possibly made early that morning. They didn’t even get soggy sitting under the sausage gravy! The gravy was flavorful and delicious without being spicy. Unfortunately, I agree with my mom’s account of dry home fries. Although, I personally felt the lack of flavor of any kind and the lack of crispness to them were bigger issues. My eggs did arrive scrambled, but still underdone for my liking.
My Final Recommendation
If you are ever in the Niagara County area and are looking for a small, locally loved diner that is sure to have a table for you then I would recommend The Club House. Their food is tasty, overall, the prices are fair and the staff is very caring and kind.
