With a fork in one hand and a pen in the other, let’s dive in: Russell’s Steakhouse

My husband and I have been together for more than eight years now. We were finally married in November of 2018, making this November our one-year wedding anniversary. As a gift, my parents made arrangements for he and I to have a one night stay at Russell’s Steakhouse and Grand Hotel. This stay included dinner for two at the Steakhouse and we opted to upgrade to a Jacuzzi room.

To say we had a wonderful time would be an understatement! Walking into the hotel to check-in we noticed the quality of the decor was far nicer than anywhere we had visited in the past. We got our room key and took the uniquely decorated elevator to the second floor. In my opinion, the theme throughout the hotel and restaurant is consistent, unique, upscale artwork. Each piece likely chosen with care and with the intention of mid-matching. Entering our room we were greeted by a large king-size bed with quality down pillows and white bed linens, a large flat screen tv mounted in the wall, a large tiled shower, a modern style sink and vanity as well as the large two-person Jacuzzi tub that we requested (which we jumped right into)!

At 5:15 pm we went down to the steakhouse for dinner. My husband and I were welcomed and taken to our seats by a gentleman dressed in a black tuxedo. We were tended to by our waiter in a timely fashion and we were made to feel incredibly special!

My husband ordered half a cage-free chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and a caesar salad. I ordered the poached salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and also a caesar salad. A bread basket with Italian bread and a specialty bread crisp as well as a butter trio tray. The butters were flavored beautifully, not overpowering. The Italian bread was clearly made in house with a “fresh baked” flavor radiating from it.

In no time at all, our salads were brought to the table. The romaine lettuce was properly dressed in caesar dressing. The leaves were crisp, not soggy from the weight of the dressing at all. The croutons were intensely crunchy, but very tasty! My husband and I were both very impressed even by the salad!

A short time later our entrees were delivered to the table. Both plates were so beautifully presented that I nearly forgot to take a picture before diving in! My husband’s plate featured a generous sized half of a chicken which had been beautifully roasted with herbs. He gave me a taste and I knew for sure my taste buds had never tasted chicken so tender, moist and full of flavor! I truly was taken back and rendered speechless. I then turned to my plate to taste my poached salmon, having extremely high expectations now. It practically melted it was so tender. The salmon was paired with a champagne sauce and topped with an artichoke heart. Both of which complimented the fish beautifully! We each had a scoop of garlic mashed potatoes and a side vegetable mixture of bell peppers and green beans.

Our delightful waiter did not miss a beat throughout the entire night! Our water glasses were always full, our table was always clean (with the help of a member of the wait staff coming by to “crumb” our tablecloth) and I excused myself to use the ladies room only to return to my chair pushed in and my napkin folded for me. To add to this incredible and special experience, our waiter surprised us with a decorated plate containing two chocolate-covered strawberries and whipped cream! It was such a perfect end to a perfect dinner!

Overall, our night stay and dinner we’re both top-notch! We are not typically fancy people, but it was nice to live like it even if only for a night!
